The Teachings of Mae Chee Kaew
People’s hearts are so clogged up with pain and suffering
they cannot see anything clearly. By leaping after their desires and delighting
in them, stupid people welcome suffering with open arms. They mistake suffering
for happiness. Smart people look inside and examine themselves until they see
what happiness truly is and what suffering truly is. Their hearts are not so
easily blocked. When they see stubbornness in themselves, they recognize
stubbornness. When they see gloom, they recognize gloom. When they see
stupidity, they recognize that too. They look for their own faults; they don’t
try to find fault in other people.
